HISTORY
Live across the street from the lane GEORGE WASHINGTON trod each day on his way to school, and a few doors away from where JAMES MONROE brought his bride, and near where MATHEW FONTAIN MAURY lived. (Today's neighbors are great folks, too!)
This house was once a boys' military school and was known as PHILIPS' MILITARY ACADEMY.

The house across Dixon Street was the first in town to sell for $1,000,000. The two houses directly across Caroline Street are interesting because the one on the left became the largest house in town when the most recent addition was added to it, and the house on the right was AUCTIONED for $1.1 million dollars in January 2005.
SCHOOLS
Public schools in Fredericksburg continue to improve on SOL test results, and there are several highly thought of private schools (religious & secular) including FREDERICKSBURG ACADEMY.
