Many people get confused when it comes to mortgages. A lender uses a unique calculation to determine how much it will lend you. This calculation does not reflect reality. Just because a lender will let you borrow $500,000 does not mean you can AFFORD to borrow this amount. Always focus on what you can afford, not what you can get. Doing so will keep you out of trouble down the road.
