There was a time in the real estate industry that home inspections were considered an unnecessary act that were negotiable between the buyer and seller. That is no longer the case. Home inspections are the custom and practice in any real estate transaction these days, yet some sellers still get aggravated when the subject is brought up. If you are selling your own home, you should keep in mind that most buyers will think you are trying to hide something if you balk at the notion of a home inspection.
