Once You Have Buyer Interest

You've got someone interested in buying your home. What now?  In a nutshell, you need a contract and someone to make settlement under the contract.  State specific contract forms (laws vary from state to state) can be found many places including on our site.  (See "Real Estate Contracts.")  Also, lawyers and realtors can draw contracts.  They cost more than the forms, but the lawyer's or realtor's knowledge is put at your disposal.  Lawyers, Title Companies, Settlement Companies, or Escrow Companies can handle settlement.  Look for them in your yellow pages or ask friends who they used and what their experience was like.
