Graduated Payment Mortgage

The graduated payment mortgage seems great up front, but quickly gets to be a monkey on your back. These loans start out with low payments and then start rising. They eventually plateau and then remain there for the rest of the loan. In real estate markets that flatten out or decline in value, a common occurrence today, this can be bad news if the payments grow beyond your means.
