The For Sale Sign Decision
Occasionally, one will become aware of someone who wants to sell their house who refuses to put up a "for sale" sign. This usually happens in "uppercrust" neighborhoods. The idea is that word of mouth will get about, and because the neighborhood is so wonderful and desirable, a buyer will magically appear. Usually there's also an element of fear on the seller's part. Fear that he might offer his property for sale and be rejected. "What if no one buys it? I'll be so embarrassed," the thinking runs. Well, guess what? No one is likely to buy it if you DON'T put up a sign! This is not personal. This is business. Develop a good multi-media marketing plan. Start by planting that sign out front. Historically, 10% of sales come from signs, so don't omit it.
