Evaluating Contingency Clauses in Offers
A buyer has made an offer, but included contingency clauses. If the clauses are not met, the deal is canceled. So, how do you go about evaluating contingency clauses? The typical approach is to ask yourself three questions. Is the contingency reasonable? A home inspection contingency probably is. Is the contingency based on a whim of the buyer? There should be some tangible event that must happen. Can you live with the contingency? This is purely subjective.
