Determining Closing Costs

Closing costs sound like they are part of the real estate transaction, but they are generally considered part of the mortgage area. That being said, you need to know what you are getting into and what is expected of you at closing. Under federal law, your lender must put into writing a good faith estimate of your closing costs. Make sure to ask for it so you know what is financially expected of you.
