Pay attention to any media outlet these days and you’ll undoubtedly see the Chicken Little gurus proclaiming the real estate market is falling. Yes, it is going through a down period, but it is hardly the end of the world. Foreclosures are up, but they still represent a microscopic percentage of the real estate market. The sky may be a bit cloudy in real estate, but it is not falling. Why? There is one fundamental reason that the housing market will never crash like a stock market – people need someplace to live! There are now over 300 million of us in this country. We need to lay our heads somewhere each night. Homes are where the vast majority of us will do it. If you find the current lull in the market disturbing, ignore it and the Chicken Little gurus for the next year. The clouds will clear up and things will come back.
