The last year or so has been challenging, hasn’t it?  The cost of materials has gone up.  Marketing costs have gone up.  The number of people who can afford to build what they want has gone down, and those who can afford it (at least in theory) are having a hard time selling their current houses.

We’re an Internet multiple listing service (MLS) for FOR SALE BY OWNER properties (FSBO).  In February 2010, we had over 1,151,000 page views by visitors who viewed, on average, 20 listings per visit.

Builders can list “spec” houses, and/or advertise custom building services.  Listings can handle up to 15 still photos and a 6 minute video tour.  There is virtually unlimited space for descriptive material in paragraph form. 

Many builders have professionally prepared videos that are excellent, but I did a video for the builder who built a house for my husband and me with a small digital camera (Canon, Power Shot, SD300, Digital Elph).  You can see it at http://www.fsboamerica.org/674233.
