Addressing Problems Found In Home Inspections 

What can a buyer do when a home inspection turns up a significant problem such as a roof that needs to be replaced or a foundation with structural problems?  Reopening negotiations can work if the seller is a sensible person.  The buyer can request that the seller have the repairs made (and in the case of structural problems, have the structural soundness certified by an engineer).   Repairs of this type can be expensive, but once they’re uncovered, it would be fraudulent for a seller to try to cover it up, and any new buyer would have the same concerns that you do.
